Vintage Fruit Crate Packing Label Circa 1940s Homer Brand Citrus Sunkist Oranges. Grown & Packed by Orange Heights Orange Ass'n. Corona, California. "Grown in USA," it measures in inches 10" x 11", full color box label
Growers first started using fruit and vegetable crate labels in the late 19th century. Labels were glued on the ends of wooden crates to identify the contents, place or origin, and the packer's name. Packers made an effort to display their produce with colorful and attractive labels in order to generate more business at the local market.
This colorful label with a flying bird and round horizon would make a nice addition to any collection.
